Waitakere Feb 2013

It’s a beautiful Sunday and I am reflecting on a very successful Risk Management day held in Huia!

Thank you Brenton for an excellent day that everyone enjoyed. The evaluations suggest that not only did they have a lot of fun but that there was a lot of learning and understanding taking place. It was great to see that my raft was able to transport 15 participants and supporters across the harbour and also that your swimming training has paid dividends Brenton – but how come mine had 15 and yours had less??? I must be getting older and slower!

The effect of getting the group outside their comfort zone is that it increases focus and in this way enhances the attention to the actual leaning. The by product is that it makes everyone think about the activity at hand but more importantly creates an awareness in them to think about and reflect on the impact this ‘thinking’ has on their everyday existence. I am always impressed that they are able to function successfully in this learning environment and then put in  place the aspects of team work, communication, trust and planning into their everyday lives – excellent!

Thanks Chris for your support, photography and assistance during the day – brilliant.

Next session Thursday at 7.00pm at Henderson Police Station – Shattered Dreams.

Waitakere Feb Programme

Good morning everyone.

Thank you Kumeu Volunteer Fire Brigade and especially Simon and Sooty(Robin Hood). Again this was an outstanding presentation. The realism that you portray, the direct approach, the expertise of the roles you undertake and the way that you get the young people involved and active ensures that this is a memorable evening. It was interesting to see that one of the participants has already signed up with Te Atatu Volunteer Brigade and was further enthused tonight – brilliant!

The group is gelling well and continues to be fully involved with the activities and willing to take part in every aspect of the programme.
