CONGRATULATIONS to the Right Track team, winners of the Leo J.Tooman Road Safety Award which states that Right Track “Has demonstrated such leadership, initiative and dedication as gives promise of success to road safety within the Waikato Police District. CONGRATULATIONS.
Fantastic news from Waikato Police Statistics … the Evaluation of all programmes delivered in Waikato since inception that analysed offending two years prior to programme participation and two years afterwards showed a decrease of 96% in all offences committed.
An independent Evaluation Study conducted by the University of Waikato and NZ Police is available and illustrates the enormous success of TRT in the region. Several fascinating facts from the Study showed that TRT was equally effective for Maori and Non Maori participants; that crime rates in categories other than driving had substantially decreased; and that TRT had a longitudinal impact rather than something that wore off over time.
Further studies analysed by NZ Police in 2023 & 2024 in the Southern Region – inclusive of Otago, Central Lakes and Southland Regions- illuistrtaed the continued success of TRT with an average non reoffending rate in excess of 70% since inception.
